Amanda Jackson has one of those voices that can just transport you to another place, the warmth and depth captures you somewhere beyond your ears. Steeped in soul, with a bluesy edge, she can melt you with a sweet lullaby in one breath and then knock you to your knees with her soaring vocals in the next one. With her captivating stage presence, Amanda has an innate ability to draw her audience in and make them part of the musical experience.
Nearly a decade ago, Dale McKie had a dream to start a blues band and Amanda Jackson would become the voice of their award-winning group, Bad Habits. The multi-talented musician and artist, known affectionately as Amanda’s right-hand man, is a core member of their current project, Amanda Jackson Band, and whether playing guitar and harmonica on stage, designing artwork or engineering their latest album, McKie’s heart and soul shines through.
In July 2017, the Amanda Jackson Band’s highly anticipated studio debut, Fire in the Blue was released. Fire in the Blue won the 2018 Music PEI Award for Urban Recording of the Year and garnered two additional nominations for Group Recording and New Artist of the Year as well as an ECMA nomination for R&B album of the year in 2019. In early 2018, the band received national attention as one of the top 10 finalists for the 2018 CBC Searchlight competition for their song “Dance into the Light”. They were also highlighted by the CBC producers as one of the standouts from the Top 100.
The Amanda Jackson Duo will be playing the main stage at 4:00 pm on Saturday, August 3rd.
